Yusuf Bello| A day after governor Mohammed Zulum’s convoy came under attack in Baga, Maiduguri, the state capital was on Thursday evening rocked by triple explosions that killed at least five people.
The explosions which occurred in Custom Area, a densely populated part of the town lead to the death of a father, his son and three others.
The father and his son, both furniture makers were reportedly killed by the first explosion which denoted around their shop in the commercial area.
The second explosion which landed in a house at Gwange area killing a child.
The third explosion reportedly killed two individuals.
Bornu state police commissioner, Mohammed Ndatsu who confirmed the attack and the casualty figure, said it was tooearly to determine the type of explosive used for the attack by the suspected insurgent.
According to him, only a bomb specialist could explain that.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Khalifa Ibrahim, has also visited the scenes of the blasts.
Bodies of the victims have since been evacuated by officials of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
