NAFDAC destroys ‘N100bn fake medicines’ seized in Lagos market

Our reporter/ The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Sunday said it has destroyed bus-loads of expired, falsified, unregistered, and banned medicines.

NAFDAC, in a statement, said the medicines, estimated at N100 billion, were seized from the Idumota Open Drug Market in Lagos.

The seizures were made over the course of three weeks during a reinforcement operation.

“The destruction took place at the Lapite Dumpsite in Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State, with the confiscated products valued at an estimated ₦100 billion,” the statement reads.

“Several suspects were apprehended during the exercise, and those found culpable will face appropriate sanctions.”
