Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has backed President Donald Trump’s efforts to protect Christians in Nigeria, following U.S. military airstrike against terrorists in Sokoto on Christmas Day.
Mr Netanyahu, who in his Christmas message, said persecution of Christians in Nigeria would not longer be tolerated, made this statement at a press conference in Maralago, Florida, U.S. on Wednesday.
“Not only the Jews, other minorities, especially the Christians, should be protected as well in Syria and throughout the Middle East and in Nigeria,” Mr Netanyahu said.
Pointing at Mr Trump, who stood on his left hand side, the Israeli prime minister said, “In your efforts, we back completely, because Christian communities are beleaguered around the world. We stand for the same thing.”
On Christmas Day, Mr Trump announced that U.S. military struck ISIS terrorists in Sokoto State on his order.
Mr Trump described the attack as a Christmas gift to the terrorists, adding that he delayed the strike till December 25 for it to have a symbolic meaning.
