NICArB elects new governing council

The Nigeria Institute of Chartered Arbitrators at its recent 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Lagos elected members of its governing council.

According to a statement by the Registrar/CEO of the Institute, Shola Oscoda-John, nine distinguished members of the Institute’s governing council were re-elected for another tenure of one year while eight new members were elected for two years.

The re-elected members at a meeting held at the Radisson Blue hotel, Victoria Island Lagos includes – Prof Fabian Ajogwu, Registration and Chairman of the council, Damian D. Dodo, Prof Taiwo Osipitan, Jude T U Nnodim, Mike Igbokwe, Omoruyi Augustine Omonuwa, Priscicillia Ogwemoh, Adebayo Adenipekun, and Registra/CEO Shola Oshodi-John.

New members elected are: Rafiu A Lawal-Rabana, Uche Val Obi, Daminola Olawuyi, Justice Rita Pemu, Francis Ohiwere Oleghe (General Secretary), Sebastine Hon, Rosecanna Ankama and Kashim Abdul Alli.

In his report, the President, Prof Fabian Ajogwu revealed that in 2023, the Institute had a robust increase of 23 percent over 2022 revenue and that the ADR centre handled arbitration matter claims totalling N3, 720, 900, 000 and $105, 000, 000.

He further stated that as part of its strategy for 2023, NICArB broadened its reach and deepened its roots across Nigeria by establishing the Abuja liason office and created a full fledged office in Kano.

Ajogwu, while noting that the Institute expanded its training programme and enhanced service options, urged council members to remain committed and do their best to maintain and surpass the current admirable growth of the Institute.
