Chidi Samuel| Nigeria on Saturday recorded 661 new coronavirus infections as the country continues to struggle with rising numbers of the highly contagious virus.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in a tweet on Saturday night via its verified Twitter handle, said 19 more people died of complications related to the disease.
In further update on the outbreak, the health agency noted that the new cases were reported in 13 states across the country and the FCT with Lagos recording the highest number of infections 230, followed by Rivers 127 and Delta 83.
Other states that recorded new infections are, FCT 60, Oyo 51, Edo 31, Bayelsa 27, Kaduna 25, Plateau 13, Ondo-6, Nasrawa 3, Ekiti 2, Kano 2 and Bornu 1.
According to the health agency, Nigeria now has a total of 19,808 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 6,718 discharges and 506 deaths.
