The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday declared Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner of Saturday’s presidential election in Delta.
The collation officer for the election in the state, Seth Jaja, who announced the result in Asaba, said that Atiku won in 23 local government areas out of 25 in the state.
Mr Jaja, from Federal University, Otuoke, declared that Atiku polled 594,068 votes across the 25 local government areas, while Muhammadu Buhari of All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 221,292 votes.
According to him, Atiku won the election in Aniocha South, Aniocha North, Oshimili South, Oshimili North, Ika South, Ika North-East, Burutu, Sapele, Ughelli South, Okpe, Warri South, Warri South West, Warri North and Udu.
The other areas where the PDP candidate also won are Ethiope West, Bomadi, Uvwie, Isoko North, Isoko South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Burutu and Patani.
Buhari of the APC, he said, won in Ethiope East and Ughelli North.
Mr Jaja said the state had 2, 719, 313 registered voters and that 891, 647 voters were accredited for the election.
He announced that total valid votes cast were 829,762, while 52, 492 were voided.
Benue State
The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has also won the presidential election in Benue State.
The former vice president defeated the incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), his main challenger.
Announcing the result in the state collation office in Makurdi in the early hours of Tuesday, the chief returning officer of the state and vice chancellor of the University of Jos, Sebastian Maimako, said the PDP polled 355,355 against the APC’s 347,668.
The PDP candidate won in 13 out of the 23 local governments of the state while Mr Buhari won 10.
Anambra State
The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar, recorded a landslide victory in Anambra, the home state of his running mate Peter Obi, polling 524,738 votes to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress who got 33,298 votes.
Results announced from all 21 local government areas in the state showed Mr Abubakar led with about 491,440 votes, having won in all the LGAs.
The results were announced by Francis Otunta, the Vice-Chancellor of Michael Okpara University, Umudike.
