By our reporter| Nigerians abroad, who want to be evacuated, must test negative for the coronavirus, the federal government has said.
The government made this clear in a form entitled “COVID-19 Application Form for Nigerians who want to return home” and displayed on the website of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM ).
According to the form, anyone who intends to return “must get tested for the virus in your country of residence and be issued an authorised health clearance certificate attesting that you are COVID-19 free”.
“This certificate must be presented and authenticated by officials at the airport in your country of departure before you are allowed to board the aircraft.”
“On landing, you will also be on compulsory quarantine for 14 days on arrival in Nigeria, at an NCDC approved location.
The financial implications of the evacuation will be borne by the evacuees, the chairman of NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Eruwa had on announcing the evacuation plans, said recently.
The Nigeria health agency has meanwhile confirmed 22 new cases of the ravaging Covid-19 bring to 276 the number of total infections in the country.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease control gave the update via its verified Twitter handle.
According to the health agency, Lagos recorded 15 new cases, while the FCT has four. Bauchi recorded 2 and one in Edo.
The Tweet read, ”Twenty-two new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 15 in Lagos, 4 in the FCT, 2 in Bauchi, 1 in Edo
As at 09:00 pm 8th April, there are 276 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Fourty-four have been discharged with six deaths”.
