Police arrest 82- year-old former DG Of Imo State Broadcasting Corporation for stabbing wife to death

By our reporter| The Imo state police command has arrested 82-year-old Theophilus Okere a retired Director General of Imo State Broadcasting Corporation for allegedly killing his wife Mrs. Beatrice Okere in Imerienwe community within the Ngor- Okpala Local Government Area of Imo state.

The state police command public relations officer, Orlando Ikeokwu who confirmed the incident, said preliminary investigations revealed that after stabbing his wife his to death, the 82-year old ran away until he was arrested by the officers of the command following a tip-off.

Eye witness accounts said, the late Mrs Beatrice Okere was rushed to an undisclosed hospital by indigenes of the community after the incident but due to loss of so much blood gave up the ghost in the hospital.

Imo state Commissioner of Police Isaac Akinmoyede said the suspect would be charged to court at the end of ongiong investigation to ascertain if the suspect committed the heinous crime.
