Police declare suspects seen in Deborah viral killing video wanted

The Sokoto police command has declared two suspects who claimed involvement in the killing of Deborah Yakubu as seen in a viral video, wanted.

Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto was killed and set ablaze by a mob over alleged blasphemous comments against Prophet Mohammed.

In one of the video clips that showed the attack, two male suspects, who claimed responsibility for the attack displayed on camera the box of matches they used to set the deceased on fire.

The police command in Sokoto arrested two suspects in connection with the killing and on Monday, a magistrate’s court in the state remanded them in prison.

In an update on the incident on Tuesday, Sokoto state command spokesperson, Sanusi Abubakar, called on members of the public to provide information on the suspects.

“The Sokoto state command under the able leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kamaldeen Kola Okunlola fdc, has declared the suspects spotted in the viral video wanted,” he said.

“The command is using this medium to reiterate its commitment towards apprehending the suspects. The command has already deployed all its intelligence and is on the lookout for the suspects.

“Members of the public are enjoined to cooperate with the police and report any mere identification to the command or any security outfit in their domain.”
