By our reporter/ Two out of the abducted students of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State have rescued by the police.
The students were rescued by the police authorities in a forest of Dansadau District, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Spokesman of the Zamfara State Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu, confirmed this on Sunday to journalists in Gusau, said the students , a male and female were rescued on Saturday.
It is however not clear if any ransom was paid to secure the release of the students, even as uncertainly looms over the remaining number of students still in captivity.
The rescue effort is coming about six weeks after gunmen suspected to be bandits stormed the school and abducted an unspecified number of students and four teachers.
The students and teachers of the federal government owned college were kidnapped when gunmen attacked the school on June 17.
The gunmen invaded the school on motorcycles and engaged police officers in a crossfire — wounding some of the students while one died in the process.
However, three days later, the Nigerian Army in a surveillance operation, rescued three of the students.
To date, there is no official information yet regarding the number of students abducted by the attackers who are being reported to be bandits terrorising communities in the north.
