Yusuf Bello/ The residence of Abdurrahman Adamu, the ASUU Chairman of the Federal University of Gusau (FUGUS), Zamfara state was early on Wednesday attacked by armed bandits who kidnapped six persons.
The ASUU chairman’s home in Damba quarters, is located at the outskirt of Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
According to a staff of the institution, the gunmen stormed Adamu’s house and abducted five persons in his home and a neighbor, who is also a staff in the bursary department of the university.
The source further disclosed that the ASUU chairman did not sleep in that house on Tuesday night, and as such, was not present when the bandits stormed the residence.
Those abducted include Adamu’s younger brother, a niece, a nephew, and two of his wives’ younger sisters.
The source said, “Five of them and one Abbas Umar who is his neighbour and also a staff of Bursary Department, Federal University Gusau.”
Commenting on the incident, the ASUU leader disclosed that his entire house was ransacked, with many items carted away.
The kidnappers, he said, were yet to contact him or any family member to demand a ransom.
The police authorities and the state government are yet to confirm the latest abductions.
