Tinubu directs Wale Edun to Present new minimum wage template within two days

Our reporter/ President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday directed Wale Edun, minister of finance, to present the cost implications for a new minimum wage.

Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, who made the disclosure in a chat with reporters, said the president had a meeting with the representatives of the federal government in the negotiation with the labour on the minimum wage.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) earlier on Tuesday suspended their industrial action – over a lack of consensus on a new minimum wage and the hike in electricity tariff  – for one week.

The TUC president Festus Osifo confirmed this in Abuja after a joint extraordinary national executive council meeting of the unions.
