By our reporter| The Abia state police CID headquarters was on Saturday evening torched by suspected IPOB militants.
The office located at Umuagu along Umuahia Uzuakoli road as at the time of filing this report is still on fire.
The scantly covered gunmen, numbering over 50, were seen hanging live cock around their neck while many of them are armed with AK47 riffles.
A combined team of the military and Police engaged the hoodlums afterwards.
According to eyewitness accounts, tray bullets killed some people as security personnel battled the gunmen.
Meanwhile, soldiers have taken over Umuahia as of the time of this report.
The attack on the police facility is coming a day before the sit-at-home order declared by the separatist militant group.

Also on Saturday the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters in Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, was also attacked by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The NIS headquarters is located few distances away from a Police formation within Ubakala which was recently attacked by the militants and resulted in the death of two Policemen.
They bombed the facility and opened fire on personnel of the Service, with many officers feared killed in the process.
Vehicles within the compound were also set on fire.

Meanwhile, a magistrate court, high court, and a divisional police station in Atta community, Njaba local government area of Imo State were also set ablaze by the militants.
According to sources in the community, the attack took place in the late hours of Friday.
The attack was accompanied by long hours of sporadic gunshots in the community, caused panic among residents.
Community members said they noticed that the courts and police station had been set ablaze on Saturday morning.
