Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, the common sense Senator representing Bayelsa East constituency in the national assembly on Monday explained why Senator Dino Melaye jumped out of the Police van last week while being driven to Lokoja by men of the Nigeria Police Force.

Senator Murray-Bruce who was in the hospital to see the bedridden Melaye, expressed concerns in a tweet about the embattled senator’s travails, saying, “Very sad to hear what transpired.”

According to Bruce, Melaye is asthmatic, was gassed by policemen taking him to Lokoja.

The tear-gassing of the senator wasn’t a one-off thing, Murray-Bruce said, noting, “Second time they gassed him” (and) “he had to force his way out of the vehicle.”
