A fresh graduate of Imo State University was shot dead on Wednesday night by assailants suspected to be cultists from the university.
The victim, 22-year-old Political Science and Public Administration graduate, identified as Emeka Ndubueze (aka Jayboy), had graduated and was waiting for his call-up to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme before he was murdered.
Some of the witnesses said his killing is believed to be premeditated as the assailants went directly to him and shot him in the chest severally before fleeing. The witnesses believed his killing to be related to cult wars between rival confraternities in the university.
Mr. Obi Njoku, Public Relations Officer of the university, said the school management was investigating the issue in order to bring the killers to book.
