Nigeria’s former Minister of Education and Youth Development, Professor Ben Nwabueze (SAN) on Thursday made a suprise appearance as the head of Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) legal team at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) in Abuja.
The constitutional lawyer, who was brought in on a wheelchair, while announcing his appearance, prayed the court to allow him address them sitting down as he is unable to stand for too long owing to his age.
The Senior Advocate, who later read a prepared speech before the commencement of proceedings, told the tribunal that his appearance was to underscore the importance of the case for the nation’s democratic development.
He later asked the court to allow him hand over to Mr. Levi Uzoukwu to announce the rest of the team and took his leave about thirty minutes later.
PDP leaders in court on Thursday include, the Vice Presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi, Chief Tom Ikimi, Mr Ben Obi and a host of others.
