Soldiers drafted to Ikoyi prison as facility come under attack

By our reporter| A section of Ikoyi Correctional Center has come under attackis with smoke billowing from the building and gunshots heard.

According to a vidoe shared on social media by eyewitnesses, inmates can be seen running and trying to escape.

It is yet not unclear if the attack is a jailbreak attempt or attack by hoodlums that has been witnessed in Lagos since Wednesday.

The attempted jailbreak in Lagos is coming three days after hundreds of prisoners escaped from the Benin prison.

According to the source inside the prison, several prisoners have been shot as some prisoners tried to breach the gate of the prison.

Policemen and soldiers have however been deployed to the scene to backup the prison security.
