Again, court restrains labour from embarking on planned strike

Ebun Francis|Barely 24 hours after issuing an order restraining organised labour from embarking on the proposed nationwide strike on Monday, the national industrial court in Abuja on Friday issued a fresh order stopping the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress from embarking on their planned strike.

The restraining order was issued by Justice Ibrahim Galadima of the National Industrial Court in Abuja, following an ex parte application by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.

The ccting director of the department civil litigation of the federal ministry of justice, Mrs Maimuna Shiru, and Mr Tijjani Gazali, moved the ex parte application that was later granted by Justice Galadima on Friday on behalf of the federal government.

The NLC and TUC have concluded plans to call out workers for a nationwide strike following the refusal of government to reverse the recent increament in electricity tariff and petrol pump price.
