African Independent Television (AIT) is back on air after the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) suspended its licence over alleged failure to abide by broadcasting code.
The development comes after a federal high court in Abuja nullified the suspension of the licence of DAAR Communications.
The Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Ishaq Modibbo Kawu had on the 6th of June announced the shutdown of AIT and Raypower FM.
The commission announced the decision at a news briefing in Abuja, the nation’s capital on Thursday.
According to the commission, reasons for the suspension included alleged inability to pay the license renewal fees, hate speeches, as well as using and allowing the station to be used for selfish political ends.
He said the action was taken due to the failure of the broadcasting stations to abide by broadcasting code.
