Another PDP senator has decamped to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC). While defecting on the floor of the Senate Thursday, Nelson Effiong, a senator from Akwa Ibom south, elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said his decision is as a result of the unending crisis in the PDP.
According to him, “Over the past one year this party has disintegrated; because of the crisis in the party, I have decided to resign from the PDP and join the APC.”
Godswill Akpabio, senate minority leader, in reaction to the development said Effiong had automatically lost his seat and that PDP would go to court to enforce that.
Senator Nelson Effiong is the second lawmaker aat the upper chamber of the national assemby to defect from the opposition to the ruling party in recent times. The first was Omoyele Omogunwa, a senator from Ondo south, who defected in November last year.
