APC take control of Imo house as Speaker, seven others decamp

Chidi Samuel| The speaker of the Imo state house of assembly, Collins Chiji on Tuesday lead seven of his colleagues to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The speaker who was elected in 2019, announced his defection and that of his colleagues during a plenary session of the house.

Those who defected are Uche Ogbuagu (Ikeduru); Dominic Ezerioha (Oru West); Chigozie Nwaneri(Oru East); Kanayo Onyemaechi (Owerri West); Kennedy Ibe (Obowo)’; Onyemaechi Njoku (Ihitte/Uboma), and Eddy Obinna (Aboh Mbaise).

Last week nine members of the assembly defected to the ruling APC who untill last had on presence in the house.

The development comes two weeks after the supreme court affirmed Hope Uzodinma, candidate of the APC, as the winner of the 2019 governorship election.
