The presidential election petitions tribunal has granted Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the leave to serve President Muhammadu Buhari through substituted means copies of the petition challenging the February 23 elections.

The three-man panel led by Abdul Aboki granted the request following an ex parte motion asking the court for leave of substituted service on Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) by Chris Uche, counsel to Atiku.

Uche informed the court that whereas efforts to serve the APC did not yield fruit, they were, however, able to serve the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Atiku who is challenging the victory of Buhari in the February 23 presidential poll, filed a petition before the tribunal praying that the court should declare him winner election.

In the alternative, he is asking the tribunal to nullify the poll and order a fresh one.
