Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, The Sultan of Sokoto has identified the so-called Fulani herdsmen moving with guns, causing violence, fighting with farmers as foreign terrorists. The Sultan disclosed this in his Eid el-Kabir message to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria.

According to him, “the so-called Fulani herdsmen moving with guns, causing violence, fighting with farmers are not Nigerians.

“Foreigners are the ones coming into Nigeria to cause a breach of the peace. They are therefore terrorists and should be treated as such by the Nigerian security agencies.”

Alhaji Abubakar, who stated that Nigerian herdsmen are peace-loving, however, acknowledged the existence of mistrust between Fulani herdsmen and farmers, which should only be resolved through dialogue.

He warned that “Nigeria would continue to lag behind if there is no peace and unity”.
