Abubakar Shekau, the wanted leader of Boko Haram terrorist group has said his sect was behind Monday’s twin suicide bombing at the University of Maiduguri that claimed the life of a veterinary Professor Aliyu Usman Mani and injured Seventeen other people.
The Group made the claim in a video posted on social media late on Monday.
“The bomb that exploded on Monday morning, it’s our brothers responsible for it,” the recording said.
The attack, which security officials said was carried out by a seven-year-old, was the first attack on the university since the insurgency began many year ago.
The Boko Haram leader also insisted in the audio message that Nigerian troops did not kill any of his men in Sambisa and that the University was targeted because they were mixing Islam with Democracy.
“We carried out the University of Maiduguri Bomb at the mosque. We did it because they are mixing Islam with democracy. We carried out the attack in the morning and I am speaking to you this evening. Here in Maiduguri and you will see more of this attacks,” he said.
