UPDATED: Buhari renames Abuja National Stadium after MKO Abiola

President Muhammadu Buhari has renamed the Abuja National Stadium after the late Chief MKO Abiola, the man beleived to have won the June 12 presidential election in 1993.

Buhari who made the disclosure during the 2019 Democracy Day Address at the Eagles Square, Abuja on Wednesday, said Nigeria has all it takes to become a world power.

According to him, since nations like China, India and Indonesian achieved the feat, Nigeria can also do the same if the country puts its acts together.

“Nigeria can do it.” Buhari said on Wednesday.

The President who insisted that the country’s future and unity remains unshakable, stated that his administration has made remarkable progress in the fight against corruption, improving economy and securing the country in the past four years.

He also called on state governments and the private sector to play their part in the development of the country as the Federal Government cannot develop the nation alone.

“Join me in this journey of rebuilding our nation.” he said

The President also warned that his administration will not tolerate any form of violence against Nigerians in any part of the country even as he assured that the next four years will be used to consolidate on the achievements recorded in the past four years.
