The Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, has confirmed that Senator Dino Melaye indeed graduated from the institution.
Prof. Garba was summoned before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, chaired by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, to clear the air over allegations that Melaye did not graduate from the university.
The professor confirmed that Melaye graduated from ABU in 2000 with the registered name Jonah Daniel Melaye.
“From records, Dino, formerly known as Daniel Jonah Melaye, graduated from ABU. BA Geography,” Prof. Garba said. He said that Sen. Melaye graduated with a third class in BA Geography.
Prof. Garba was placed under oath at about 1.40pm before speaking on the issue.
Melaye made an appearance before the Committee just before Prof. Garba’s appearance, presenting documents to back up his claim such as his acceptance letter, letter of admission, result, and final year dissertation.
