British Airways sack Air hostess that abused Nigerians

Ebun Francis || British Airways on Tuesday said it has sacked Joanne Wickenden, the air hostess who made some racist comments about Nigerian’s last Friday.

The airline in a statement said Wickenden no longer works with them.

“She no longer works for British Airways. We expect the utmost professionalism from our staff when they are representing British Airways,” British Airways said in a statement.

The now sacked air hostess was heard in a video that went viral making demeaning comments targeted at Nigerian passengers on the Abuja bound flight.

The video was reportedly circulated among the “concerned” passengers, while the incident was reported to the airline, which promised to act on it.

But in an interview with a British tabloid, The Mail, Wickenden said that she is not a racist, claiming that the video was a joke.

“They were recording me and sent it around to our friends, she said I don’t want to fly anymore.”
