President Muhammadu Buhari has cleared  the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal,of corruption charges levelled against him by the senate following an investigation into allegations against him.

The President’s decision was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, which he read on the floor of the senate, Tuesday. The letter dismissed the senate document as a “minority report”, saying that “the senate committee comprised nine members” but only three persons signed it.‎

Part of the letter read, “The review of the interim report showed that only three members signed the report. ‎This makes it a minority report of a senate committee‎.”
‎‎
“The current report does not meet the principle of fair hearing‎ required in cases of abuse of office by public officer.”
