Ebun Francis || Following the complaints from Benue stakeholders during the meeting President Muhammadu Buhari in Makurdi on Monday, the President on Tuesday summoned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to Aso Rock.
President Mohammadu Buhari had during the meeting in Markudi while on official visit to Benue said he was not aware that the IGP failed to carry out his directive to remain in the state until the farmers and herdsmen crisis is resolved.
The meeting between the President and the police chief took place on Tuesday morning.
After the meeting, the embattled IGP according to sources familiar with what transpired tried to explain his side of the story to the President, he refused to speak to the press as he exited the meeting.
The President was said to have directed him to provide immediately a full report on police operations in Benue state.
IGP Idris has come under widespread criticism following his sloppy handling of the farmers and herdsmen clashes in Benue state that has lead to hundreds of people losing their lives and properties and homes worth hundreds of millions of naira destroyed.
