Cotonou court orders Igboho be kept in detention pending investigation

By our reporter/ Court of appeal for Cotonou Benin republic late on Monday night ruled that Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho will remain in detention pending further investigations.

Security personnel earlier on Monday drove Igboho to court as early as 7am before the start of work to avoid interference.

He spent over 15 hours inside the prosecutor office as the court deliberated on whether to release or further detain him.

After long hours the court decided to detain him, even as the details of proceedings remains sketchy.

Many supporters of the activist were in court on Monday with some wearing solidarity uniform.

Many Yoruba traditional leaders in full regalia were also in court to show support for Igboho.
