Court remands Maina at Kuje prison pending outcome of trial

By our reporter| The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday ordered the remand of Abdulrasheed Maina at Kuje Correctional Centre until the conclusion of his trial.

Presiding Judge, Okon Abang gave the order at the resumed trial of the former PENCOM task force boss who jumped bail and was arrested by INTERPOL earlier in the week.

The counsel representing Maina, Adaji Abel formally withdrew from the trial and the counsel engaged by Maina asked for a short adjournment to enable him to study the facts of the case.

Justice Abang granted the application for adjournment on the ground that the defendant who is presumed innocent is entitled to legal representation.
