COVID-19: Vice-president Osibanjo in self-quarantine

By our reporter| Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is currently in self-quarantine amid the spread of the new coronavirus in the country, his spokesman Laolu Akande, said on Tuesday.

In a tweet via his official twitter handle, Akande said the Vice President has been “conducting his meetings via video conferencing while observing social distance.”

He Tweeted, ”VP Osinbajo yesterday at the office conducted his meetings via video conferencing, while observing social distancing. Today, he continues his work from the home office, as he is in self-isolation in accordance with NCDC protocols”.

According to Akande, the vice president is self-isolating in accordance with the “protocols” of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

Chief of Staff to the President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari reportedly tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday.

Also reported to have tested positive for coronavirus are three aides of Kyari and they have been directed to self-isolate.

Asked to confirm if Kyari and some of his aides tested positive to covid-19 on Tuesday, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said, “We don’t mention names in carrying out this responsibility. It’s a global practice so you don’t expect us to mention any name to you”.

Nigeria currently has 44 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi state.
