Eight Chinese citizens arrested in Jos for illegal mining

Ebun Francis || The National Security Adviser, NSA, Ali Munguno on Monday ordered the immediate arrest of eight Chinese Nationals for engaging in illegal mining activities in the Country.

The NSA who was on a visit with Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the minister for mines and power, to mining sites in Plateau State, ordered the arrest of the miners at Kampani Zurak village in Bashar chiefdom of Wase Local Government Area of the state.

The eight Chinese were arrested alongside twelve other Nigerians who were aiding and colluding with them in the illegal mining activities in the area.

Dr. Fayemi also declared the alleged chief miner, Abdullahi Usman, popularly known as “Dan China”, wanted.

The Minister said the foreigners and their accomplices would be taken to Abuja for interrogation and prosecution.

The clamp down on illegal miners in the country, the minister said, followed the directive by the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo that all illegal mine sites in the country be sealed up and the miners arrested.
