The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has described the right given to Nigeria to host the 2018 United Nations World Tourism Organisation Conference as one of the benefits of the present administration.
While speaking in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Mohammed said that the latest feat should be regarded as “a global endorsement of programmes and efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.”
He noted that the hosting right reiterates the confidence that the global community has in President Buhari’s administration.
Nigeria won the right to host the conference at the 61st meeting of African ministers in charge of tourism, which was tagged UNWTO Commission for Africa.
“Wednesday was a big moment for Nigeria here in Addis Ababa because Nigeria got the endorsement of the whole world to host the 61st session of the CAF mission of the UNTWO,” he said.
“What that means really is that the entire world has endorsed the programmes and efforts of President Buhari’s administration.”
Mohammed added that the conference signifies that Nigeria is back on a world stage and this would provide the country the ample opportunity to showcase its diverse culture to the world.
“Hosting this conference will give confidence to investors that this is a country they can come and invest in,” he said.
“It will also convince the entire world that Nigeria is serious in promoting culture, music, film and entertainment industry to diversify its economy.”
