Etisalat has changed its brand name to 9Mobile according to sources familiar with the transaction.
The development is coming on the heels of the pullout of Mubadala Group, Etisalat’s major investor from the United Arab Emirates, over a $1.4bn (N541bn) debt.
The move lead to the resignation of Bello Osagie as the chairman of the company’s board and the subsequent appointment of Boye Olusanya as the new chairman of Etisalat Nigeria, to handle the smooth transition of the telecommunications company.
