FEC Approves closure of Abuja Airport For Repairs

The Federal Executive Council Wednesday approved the Temporary closure of Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, Abuja,  for six weeks to enable repair works on the runway which is said to be dysfunctional. The decision was was approved in the first Federal Executive Council meeting for the year 2017, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Hadi Sirika, the Hon Minister of aviation, made the disclosure while briefing State House correspondents at the end of council meeting. The Minister also said that the federal government will be spending over one billion Naira to complete the Kaduna airport terminal building, a project that was abandoned over the years.

The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Danbazzau also disclosed to news men that the Council approved over 4 billion Naira for the purchase of firefighting equipment to enable firemen in the country perform their task efficiently.

Wednesday’s FEC meeting was the first for the year 2017 and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo attended with almost all the cabinet members of the administration.
