The Federal Government has declared Monday, May 1, 2017 as a public holiday to mark the annual Workers’ Day celebration.
Lieutenant-General Abdulrahman Dambazau, Minister of Interior, announced the public holiday via a statement from his office on Friday.
The Minister extoled the virtues of hard work and encouraged workers across Nigeria not to relent despite the current economic challenges. He added that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to fighting corruption, which would effectively enable workers to enjoy the full benefits of their labour.
He said that workers need to re-dedicate themselves to the service of Nigeria in order to maximize the gains of productivity, particularly as the government is committed to full implementation of the Economic Recovery Growth Plan that was recently launched.
