The federal government Tuesday withdrew charges of fraud instituted against the Chief registrar of the supreme court. Ahmed Saleh, and two others at a federal capital territory (FCT) high court, Abuja.
Saleh was slammed in November 2016 by the attorney-general of the federation with a nine-count charge of fraud to the tune of N2.2bn along with Muhammed Abdulrahman, director of finance, and Rilwan Lawal, chief account officer, of the Court.
On Tuesday, at the resumed hearing of the case, Hajara Yusuf, counsel to the government, told the court that she had been instructed to withdraw the suit.
“My lord, I have been mandated by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation to withdraw the charges against the three persons,’’ she said.
She, therefore, urged the court to strike it out.
Without any objection from the defence counsel, Abba Mohammed, the judge, struck out the suit.
The defendants were initially charged with conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and accepting gratification as public officers.
