Senate president Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday, beat a police blockade to preside over the Senate plenary where fifteen senators from the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Saraki’s home was under blockade from law enforcement agents on Tuesday but somehow he made it to the national assembly to preside over the defection.
The notice of defection by the aggrieved Senators was contained in a letter read by Saraki on the floor of the Senate.
The Senate president subsequently announced the upper chamber will be going on break to resume in September.
