Mr. Charles Abia in his assessment and evaluation of the State Government has described the Rescue Mission administration as legendary.
Abia who is a management guru and chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) disclosed this in Owerri while interacting with newsmen on the journey so far.
The astute politician who hails from Umuokpara Okwudor in Njaba Local Government Area of the state insisted that Governor Okorocha has done marvelously very well compared with his predecessors arguing that he has the passion for the overall development of the state.
The 33-year-old Alumnus of Lagos Business School who said that he played strategic roles in the formation of APC as well as ensuring the defeat of PDP in the last Presidential election noted that the state government developmental strides within the period are there for anybody to see and feel.
According to the former Students Union Leader of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Enugu campus “Governor Okorocha has reformed and transformed all socio-economic sectors in the state”.
For instance, the Governor is a pacesetter in granting free, compulsory and qualitative education from primary to tertiary education since he came on board on 29th May 2011 but is was just three weeks ago that Sokoto State House of Assembly borrowed a leaf from him by passing a law granting free education for her citizenry between the ages of 6 and 18. The implication is that Sokoto state government is just doing 30% of what Governor Okorocha started and sustained for the past 6 years. In health sector, Governor Okorocha achievements are impressive, he spreads his developmental projects across the 27 local government areas of the state” he affirmed.
But for President Muhammadu Buhari, he is of the view that controlling the socio-economic and political activities of the nation is not an easy job even though he described the President as a man of integrity and implicit trust who he also said has done exceptionally very well.
According to Abia, the political strategist “The President has been dogged in his institutional anti-corruption crusade. Earlier before Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, Directors of Federal Ministries in Abuja owned houses in choice areas of the capital territory, what is their salary? But today, the entire system has been sanitized” he assured.
He pointed out that on assumption of office President Buhari inherited a comatose economy to an extent that his predecessor was borrowing money from international communities and organizations to pay salaries and allowances but now the present administration has done a lot to remedy the situation and that’s why Nigeria is out of economic recession indexes.
The youthful politician further alleged that PDP administration looted the nation’s treasury dry and despite oil boom then but due to lack of visionary and patriotic governance the resources realized was mismanaged and created a hyperinflationary rate.
He commended President Buhari, for pulling the nation out of economic recession and high inflationary trend informing that during the previous administration the nation spends over one billion dollars in the importation of rice but today, it has come down to $600m and for the benefit of local rice producers and farmers.
