Herdsmen attack Cross River; kill one person

A clash between Fulani Herdsmen and members of the Obio-Usere Community in Odukpani LGA in Cross River has left one person dead, according to a statement by the Cross River State Police Command.

Hafiz Inuwa, Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, told pressmen that the police has been able to restore peace to the area while investigating the incident to bring culprits to book.

Inuwa said that the clash was a reprisal following an attack on one of the cows belonging to the herdsmem by the community.

The police commissioner, however, said that the herdsmen have no right to take laws into their hands even though the community had sparked the class by attacking one of their cows.

Members of the community are growing worried about their co-habitation with the Fulani herdsmen in the area despite having lived together peacefully for a long time.
