House of Reps Suspends Jibril

The embattled former chairman, Appropriation committee, House of Representative was on Wednesday suspended for for 180 legislative days by the House of Representatives. Jibril was also barred from holding any position of responsibility in the House for the rest of the eighth National Assembly. He was in addition ordered to tender a written apology to the house.

The suspension of the former powerful committee chairman followed  the adoption of the report of the committee on Ethics and Privileges which investigated allegations of breach of privileges of the House and its members. Nicolas Ossai, Chairman of the Ethics Committee while presenting the committee’s findings and recommendations, said the Committee found all the allegations against Jibrin to be true. According to him, all efforts made by his committee to get Abdulmumin Jibril to appear before them were unsuccessful.

The former Appropriation committee Chairman was yet to react to his suspension from the House at the time of filling this report.
