Ignore envious critics from Anambra, Wike tells Obi, pledges logistic support

Our reporter| Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has pledged to provide “logistics support” for the campaigns of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi within the state.

The outspoken governor of oil-rich Rivers state also noted that Obi has all the characteristics to lead Nigeria.

Wike stated this on Thursday while receiving the LP presidential candidate in Port Harcourt, the state capital, at the venue of the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover inauguration.

Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed were in the state capital to commission the 9th flyover by the present administration.

“Each time you want to campaign in the state, let me know, all the logistics support, we will give to you,” Wike told Obi.

For months, Wike and four other governors in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have demanded the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as PDP national chairman as a precondition to support the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

While Wike and his allies have not been seen to campaign for Atiku, it is not clear whether they will support Obi, or Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 presidential election.

Wike said though he knew the humiliation Obi suffered before he left the PDP for the Labour Party, he won’t leave the party but chase out the “armed robbers”.

“I know the humiliation you suffered. Nobody will hear what you pass through and stay in the party but I will not leave. I will stay and fight.

“I won’t leave this house. I will never allow armed robbers to take over this house. I will stay and chase away armed robbers.

“So, thank God because if you have not left, you would not have realised your ambition to be able to save Nigeria,” Wike told Obi.

Critics from Anambra envious…

Wike also urged the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) to ignore envious critics, especially those from his home state of Anambra.

“We have worked and you know we have worked. One reason I also brought you (Obi) is that I know you also worked well in Anambra,” Wike told Obi.

“Some people because of the level you are now, they are envying you in your state. They can come out and say all kind of rubbish. Don’t worry, that is how it is; it is your home person that will kill you first, so don’t bother about those things.

“I have always told people when you are given opportunity, use it to showcase what you can do, stop criticising somebody who has left, you have been given the opportunity now show it. I am a professor, professor well, I am a doctor, doctor well, I am a lawyer, lawyer well, I am a mechanic, mechanic well,” the governor said.
