Justice Adeniyi Ademola retires suddenly

Ebun Francis || Justice Adeniyi Ademola, a Judge of the federal high court has announced his resignation from the bench.

The Judge accused of corruption and acquitted by the court earlier in the year was due for retirement in March 2018, “voluntarily retired” after submitting his letter date Dec 6, to the Chief Justice of the Federal High Court in Abuja, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.

The one-paragraph letter, submitted to the Office of the Acting Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, said his retirement took effect from Wednesday.

The judge did not state the reason for tendering his letter ahead of the anticipated date.

The retiring Justice Ademola was among seven judges accused of corruption in October 2016 and was subsequently arraigned alongside his wife Olabowale, who retired as head of service of Lagos state.

The two were arraigned on 11 counts including conspiracy to receive gratification and receiving gratification of N30 million from Joe Agi and Associates, between March 11 and March 26, 2015.

They were, however, discharged after their counsel filed a no-case submission.
