Kano assembly sets up panel to investigate Sanusi

The Kano State House of Assembly Wednesday constituted an eight-man ad-hoc committee to probe the allegation of financial mismanagement leveled against the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and some officials of the emirate.

Sanusi and some officials of the emirate have been accused of mismanaging over N4bn left in the coffers of the emirate by the late Emir, Ado Bayero. An allegation Sanusi and the Emirate has since denied.

The house decided to probe the monarch after Ibrahim Gama, member representing Nasarawa constituency of the state, moved a motion on urgent public importance.

Gama said some of the allegations against Sanusi ought to be looked into.

He listed them as spending funds without the approval of Umar Ganduje, governor of Kano, attacking the policies of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and sending his daughter to represent him without wearing full traditional regalia.

The motion was adopted by the house after it was put to a voice vote by the speaker, Alhassan Rurum.
