Yusuf Bello| Kano state on Wednesday confirmed its first death from the Coronavirus disease.
The state ministry of health while making the disclosure on its verified Twitter handle, did not provide details of the death but said there were now 21 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state.
The state recorded its first COVID-19 case on Sunday, a former diplomat who returned to the state after visiting Lagos and Abuja.
The tweet from the health ministry read, “Wednesday, 15th April 2020. As at 11:55 pm, 1 death of #COVID19 has been recorded in Kano State.”
Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, ordered a one-week lockdown of the state from Thursday in an attempt to limit the spread of the virus.
