Leader of gang that kidnapped Emefiele’s wife arrested

Umar Abubakar, the 10th gang member and the arrow head of the kidnapping gang that abducted  the wife of the Central Bank Governor, Margaret Emefiele, in September 2016, along Benin -Asaba express, has been arrested by the police. He was nabbed in Minna, Niger State, on December 9, 2016, by the IG Intelligence Response Team, according to a statement by Donald Awunah, the Force spokesman.

According to the statement , “Abubakar led detectives to two houses and three plots of land he purchased with his share of the ransom.

“He confessed that he used N3m, part of the ransom, to open a provision shop in Minna, Niger State which he was running with his wife. The original papers of the houses and plots of land have been recovered and the shop also sealed.”

The statement reiterated the determination of the Police Force lead by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to deliver dedicated and quality policing to Nigerians.
