Look up to God, not men’, Governor Emmanuel charges UEC National Chairman

Governor Udom Emmanuel has charged the newly elected National Chairman of The United Evangelical Church Conference, founded as Qua Iboe Church, Rev Samuel Udeme Ebukiba to focus on God and not men as he goes about the onerous task of leading the church.

Governor Udom Emmanuel gave the advice when he attended the reception service of the National Chairman at the United Evangelical Church Cathedral, located at number 165 Aka Road Uyo on Sunday, April 29, 2018.

Represented by the State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyang-eyen, Governor Emmanuel prayed God to grant Rev. Samuel Udeme Ebukiba the wisdom and grace to steer the Church to higher heights.

Governor Emmanuel, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion, charged the church and Christian community to always pray for the National Chairman as that will be what he needs to succeed.

He called for unity in the body of Christ, urging the church, to ignore things that will divide the Church so as not to lose focus on the Supreme task of evangelism.

Earlier in a sermon, the Guest Minister, The Most Rev. Christian Ekong, who is the National President of The Lutheran Church of Nigeria, LCN, said, Rev Ebukiba had been preordained by God as a High Priest and has not attained his present office by accident. Archbishop Ekong prayed God Almighty to endow His servant with power and wisdom to exercise leadership over His chosen people.

The Rev. Ebukiba thanked the governor and his representative for their kind gesture and prayed for the success of the administration. He commended Governor Emmanuel for leading the State with integrity and the fear of God, assuring him of the continued prayers of the church.

The highpoint of the reception service which witnessed prayers, Thanksgiving, praise, and worship was the donation of ten million Naira to the Church to assist in completing the Cathedral construction project which is ongoing.

On his part, Commissioner Inyangeyen donated 2 million Naira on behalf of his family and directed immediate overhaul and replacement of the musical instruments of the church with the latest sets available in the market.
