The Embattled the Senator representing the Kogi West Senatorial Constituency, returned to the Senate on Wednesday but opted to be moved from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) side of the chamber to the Opposition.
Melaye specifically asked that he wants to sit beside, David Mark, the former Senate President.
The Senator who was resuming in the Senate for the first time in many weeks following his prolonged battle with the police and subsequent admission in the hospital, requested the permission of Senate President, Bukola Saraki to move to the opposite side of the Senate chamber.
The Senator cited his ordeal with the police and his health issues as the reason for his decision, insisting that he is no longer at ease in the company of the ruling APC.
While lawmakers from the ruling APC kicked against the move, arguing that it is unconstitutional, the opposition lawmakers, however, welcomed the decision by Senator Dino Melaye.
