Not less than 8 people are believed killed and many injured in multiple suicide attacks by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital Sunday night. According to various sources, the first attack occurred at Muna garage area when a female bomber blew up herself while two other suspected insurgents with two AK47 attacked CJTF check point. The two AK47 wielding attackers were killed.
“We killed the two attackers with AK47 raffles and female bombers killed self.” A CJTF source told newsmen.
Two other bombers also stormed Kalleri ward, knocking at people’s door to detonate their IEDs, killing at least five people, residents told local media.
The Nigeria police, Bornu state command has confirmed the attacks. DSP Victor Isuku, the PPRO of the command said investigation has already commenced.
According to him, “Preliminary info available is that the explosion occurred at Gariki Muna, which I understand is on the outskirt of town. Details will follow soonest please.”
